Need Help With Your Website?

Here at Red Cloud Agency, we want you to succeed in every possible, which is why we have put together this short list of tips to get you off to the best start possible. People often forget just how important it is to consider how the design will effect it's users. Follow our tips below and you will be sure to improve your users opinion of your website.

6 Design Tips to Ensure Online Success

1. Clear & Concise Navigation.

There are various techniques that can be implemented to ensure your users can easily navigate the website. Having clear sections is a start, including bold headings and subheadings so that people can easily know what each area is focusing on. It’s also particularly important to have just one, consistent navigation menu bar – keep it simple across the site. Avoiding drop down menus can help keep the website looking neat and uncluttered.

2. What message do you want to get across?

Having a good, strong brand message is particularly important as it can be reflected on your website. It’s no good having a fantastic, successful business but with a poorly designed, not very user friendly website is it? Which is why your website should be a reflection on your business.

3. Consistency is key.

Maintaining consistency throughout your website means that users will be less likely to become disengaged and lost. If a page drastically changes it’s change and design this can easily put users off as they feel that the website is quite disjointed. By keeping the website consistent; such as using the same style of images throughout, sticking to the same colour scheme, ensuring fonts and layouts are similar this will really help improve the success of your site.

4. Back to basics

Todays internet users expect things to be available to them at the click of a button, don’t make them work for it in other words. They won’t stick around if there’s a whole load of hoops to jump through, so go back to basics and keep things as simple as you can. That way, your website will be much easier to use and it will be a lot quicker to find the information you’re looking for.

5. In layman’s terms…

We’ve all heard of the saying before and I personally have a lot of customers that ask me to explain things in layman’s terms to them as it’s much easier for them to understand. There’s no point giving users technical talk – nine times out of ten they won’t understand it. So, again, go back to basics. A good way of doing so is to pretend you’re talking to an alien that has never visited our planet before, that doesn’t know about anything, especially anything on your website. (That’s a good one I remember from school!)

6. Write content with your audience in mind

You should have a target audience in mind for your business/website by now, if you haven’t then I would seriously suggest figuring your audience out as most things on your website will be tailored towards them. For example; you wouldn’t market things to 16-21-year-old males as you would to 55 – 75 years old females, would you? So, write your content with your target audience in mind and adjust where necessary.
